What Is SocialCaptain?

Straight off: SocialCaptain does not work anymore, so I will tell you only about what it used to be.

It was a standard Instagram growth tool that promised to bring a bunch of “real” things to your IG account – followers, likes, and comments.

Moreover, it claimed to be superb because of the use of advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology that would optimize its actions and grow your account safely.

Well, considering that it’s down, I guess it was not all that smart as they claimed it to be.

I cannot be adamant about this, but I assume that SocialCaptain shut down because it violated Instagram’s Terms of Use. Of course, it could be something like a change in their management, but it’s most likely that the tool simply triggered the Instagram alarm.

According to what I’ve read, the quality of SocialCaptain’s services deteriorated in December 2019, and they didn’t manage to overcome the issues.

Still, I did my best to learn everything about this tool with the traces that it has left – in the form of others’ reviews on reputable websites. 

With the amount of experience that I have when it comes to Instagram growth tools, it was really easy to distinguish between credible and fake SocialCaptain reviews circulating on the Internet.

How SocialCaptain Works?

I’m not sure it should be “How does SocialCaptain work?” – maybe “How did SocialCaptain work?” is more appropriate.

It worked in a similar way to many Instagram growing tools – by optimizing your tasks. In other words, it automatically performed IG activities such as follow, like, and comment on your behalf.

SocialCaptain was also, supposedly, AI-powered, meaning that it should have been very Instagram-friendly and respect the limits. But as it wasn’t the case, I’m not sure how honest were the claims about Artificial Intelligence.

If you wanted to use SocialCaptain, here is what you needed to do:

1. When you signed up from their official website, you ought to provide them with your Instagram account username and password. I am always skeptical when I need to give my password to third-party software, and it seems that here it’d be justified. Many users said they received an alert for a suspicious login attempt later.
2. Next, SocialCaptain asked you to define some filters (location, username, hashtags, etc.) so that it could target your audience.
3. Simple as that – SocialCaptain would then start to grow your IG. Except that it would also block your actions and ban your account.

Here is what SocialCaptain offered back in the day;

Instagram Automation

SocialCaptain’s auto-pilot consisted of three tasks:

• Like
• Follow/unfollow
• Comment

They use the word “automagically” instead of “automatically,” and it was a good wordplay – you’ve got to give them that.

However, according to what I’ve read, these actions would jeopardize your account, and they stopped working altogether in late 2019.

Also, their bot was supposed to use AI technology to mimic human activity, but it failed to do so. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be canceled. So, I can’t help but wonder – did it employ AI at all, or was it just a marketing trick?

The IG automation also had the option to allow you to control the speed of actions. It had four levels: slow, normal, fast, and turbo, ranging from 400 to over 2,000 actions per day. And it’s clear as a crystal – even the slow mode would put your account at risk, let alone fast and turbo.

So, it’s another one of the advanced features that SocialCaptain offered and charged people for but didn’t deliver.

Audience Targeting

SocialCaptain asked you to specify the following things:

• Hashtags from your niche (popular ones could indeed connect you with the right people)
• Location of your target audience (you could enter a few)
• Relevant usernames from your niche (again, this could result in excellent audience targeting by following and interacting with those accounts you selected, but also with people who are following them)

All good in theory – but it was not executed well.

Pricing of SocialCaptain

I did my best to find all the details about SocialCaptain pricing plans for you, as they are no longer available on the official website:

Luckily, there’s a lot of info to reconstruct the plans, as people were often dissatisfied with the quality of the services and did not manage to get refunds.

Firstly, I want to mention that there was a 24-hour free trial of SocialCaptain. If you ask me, that’s not enough for anyone to decide whether they like a service and want to pay for it.

But it seems that one day was the maximum that SocialCaptain could offer without having your account banned.

When it comes to the actual plans, there were two:

• Growth package, priced at $15 weekly, or $39 monthly
• Turbo package, priced at $99 monthly. I wasn’t able to find info about the weekly price of this one, but I assume it wasn’t budget-friendly either.

The latter promised AI optimization and faster growth, but it was also faster to get your account suspended.

Is SocialCaptain Safe, Legit, Or A Scam?

As SocialCaptain is no more, there’s no need to dwell on this too much: SocialCaptain wasn’t legit, so it got canceled.

While it may have been a reliable tool before 2019, its services became faulty, and you’ll find countless dissatisfied customer reviews on websites like Trustpilot and Sitejabber.

They all had the same problems: SocialCaptain put their account at risk, CS did not answer their inquiries, and for a certain period, they couldn’t cancel their SocialCaptain subscription.

In an ideal world, all the similar tools would be shut down, just like SocialCaptain.

And the other part of the matter:

Is SocialCaptain safe?

Again, a firm no. 

Amongst the things that could have happened to you if you used SocialCaptain, I’d say that the worst is getting your account permanently banned. It could also block your actions temporarily.

Plus, there’s the fact that they asked for your IG password upon registration, which I’m always suspicious about.

That said, you may have noticed that as a pro of this service I put “they stopped charging people.” Isn’t it logical; after all, the tool no longer works?

Well, yes, it is perfectly logical – BUT – I’ve come across multiple tools that continued to charge their customers and refused to issue refunds even though their services stopped working long ago. Yes, that’s a complete disgrace, but it is what it is. SocialCaptain at least provides you with the explicit announcement it’s no longer in operation.

Luckily, there is a slew of other Instagram tools that can grow your account hassle-free that you can get as a SocialCaptain alternative. My suggestion is to try those that offer organic growth with real followers.
